Q Collection has never been one to rest on our laurels. Throughout our endeavors and achievements, we have challenged the status quo, sparked positive change, and touched a few lives along the way. And when we go above and beyond to deliver results and scalable actions, meaningful connections are forged. Some of which inform our next steps.
Q Collection’s expansion into Sri Lanka came as both at the recommendation of our trusted partners and as part of a calibrated approach to diversify our offshore operational footprint, reduce reliance on single-country sourcing, and enhance the resilience of our global supply chain.
On June 11, 2025, we completed the acquisition of 3 manufacturing facilities in Mawathagama, Narammala, and Uhumeeya in a landmark deal facilitated by Nations Trust Bank PLC (NTB). Senal Seneviratne, Nations Trust Bank’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Banking, hailed the investment:
“At Nations Trust Bank, we are proud to have enabled a transaction that not only strengthens Sri Lanka’s apparel industry but also contributes to national economic resilience. This deal exemplifies our commitment to facilitating foreign investment, preserving employment and livelihoods of rural communities, and supporting industries that are critical to the country’s growth.”
To say that the strategic move has gotten off on a strong foot would be an understatement. Besides the injection of an additional 2,400 skilled employees into the Q Collection workforce, these facilities are also aligned with our commitment to operational excellence and circularity in fashion. Both the Mawathagama and Narammala factories are SEMTA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) qualified, a globally recognized ethical audit that focuses on workplace safety, environmental standards and ethical business practices. While the Mawathagama facility has achieved the highest WRAP-certified Platinum rating, our Narammala unit follows closely behind with a commendable Gold rating.
Q Collection’s Chairman, Muhammad Ghulam Faruq, raised the curtains on the organization’s new chapter in Sri Lanka with a personal visit where the company’s flag was unveiled and tree planting ceremonies were observed. To commemorate the occasion, trees with deeply symbolical meanings were chosen.
White Sandalwood, representing purity, divinity and spiritual calm, was handpicked for our Mawathagama facility. Meanwhile, the Kaluwara Tree, considered one of the finest ebony woods in the world and alluding to heritage and natural wealth, took pride of place at our Narammala facility.
The tree planting ceremonies, though symbolic in nature, also embodied our hopes and dreams for this new chapter – Ambitious yet, rooted. Focused on real world results yet, attuned to our values. And brimming with unbridled potential as we grow towards a future where the sky is the limit on innovation and sustainability.
